Twin Cities Celiac Walk/Run

Two years ago life got a little bit healthier...and a lot more complicated. At that time, I was so desperate for an explanation for my chronic health issues, that I was, dare I say, giddy when I finally received the Celiac diagnosis. Finally! An explanation to how horrible I had felt that didn't involve me being absolutely crazy. Sure! I just have to change my diet to be gluten-free--no problem! Okay! Let's get started.

I wish I could say I have the same enthusiasm for Celiac today as I did back then. Yes, I still follow the gluten-free diet. And yes, I feel 100 times better than I did before, but I really miss eating donuts, dining out at fancy restaurants, and grocery shopping without reading labels. I miss drive thru runs at 2:00am. I miss dairy (I am still hoping, no praying, that I become one of the Celiacs that can tolerate it over time). I miss being a "normal" person who doesn't have to request GF meals or worry about how to explain why I can't eat something.

But despite of all this, one thing remains: I am healthy.

So to celebrate, JLO and I have decided to participate in the Twin Cities Celiac Walk/Run. I invite you to join us if you'd like. I hear there are gluten-free cheese curds!
