Since I was a little kid, I've been obsessed with traveling. I did a lot of it during my twenties between my first job out of college and just the pure desire to before we "settled down." These days, we don't do much traveling, but when we do--it's a new challenge. I've been to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Chicago and San Diego, CA since being diagnosed with Celiac. It's take a lot of extra work (usually by JLO who is my biggest advocate) and sometimes I can trust what I am eating and sometimes I can't ("um, yea it's gluten-free. All alcohol is gluten-free" WRONG!).
This weekend JLO and I went to San Diego, CA on a work sponsored
trip. It was a fun get away (despite being difficult to leave LJ) and I
ate relatively well most of the weekend. It's always reassuring when
places actually know what I'm talking about and are willing to admit if
they don't know or don't have anything.
We had some
free time on Saturday, so we rented a car and headed up to La Jolla. We
went there for gluten-free cupcakes and Mexican food (it was Cinco de
Mayo, after all). The two places we went to didn't disappoint: Cups and Puesto. JLO and I decided we might retire in La Jolla someday :)
